Junior Scheduler - Transit / Rail in Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Our Toronto office is seeking a Junior Scheduler/Planner to perform in a fast-paced high energy team environment, supporting project teams in the execution of all planning and scheduling activities on a large and mid-level projects/programs. Under limited supervision, using independent judgment, you will competently perform more complex aspects of planning and scheduling activities, ensuring that all project control activities such as project planning, project administration, change management, project estimating, cost management and schedule management are executed in a timely fashion and in accordance with all company standards and contractual requirements. You should have hands on experience of using Primavera P6 on mid-size to large projects ideally in a Transit and Rail environment. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Reporting to the Senior Scheduler, you will be part of the Planning and Scheduling team on various Transit and Rail projects

• Work with the project team in establishing Work Breakdown Structures and Baseline Schedules that meet the needs of the program/project, and are used by, the project team

• Co-ordinate and update schedules with actual progress and forecast remaining durations, project milestones, and completion dates

• Conduct and co-ordinate reviews of Consultants, Contractors and Vendor schedules, to ensure plans are realistic and achievable. Incorporate inputs into Master Schedule

o Prepare schedule risk analysis to forecast contingencies

o Prepare and review schedule analysis narratives and reports including recommendations for corrective actions that are used by project teams to manage the work

• Involved with Scheduling Quality Compliance on Schedules meeting PMI/Company Standards/

• Develop and implement earned value systems that accurately measure project work progress and performance

• Apply practical field experience with planning and scheduling knowledge to identify challenges to the project schedule and suggest mitigation plans and prepare recovery schedules

• Develop and maintain meaningful relationships with departmental management and project team leads, and external stakeholders

• Develop, implement and use of standard and project-specific planning and scheduling procedures in accordance with the enterprise and project requirements and procedures

• Carry out what-if schedule analysis for different options or to assess impacts of certain events

• Carry out delay analysis for claims, review and recommend on extension of time claims or requests



Project Delivery Knowledge

• Understand EPC/full-service, program, and JV /consortium project delivery processes for multiple industries. Apply the principles of project controls to planning/scheduling work processes

Communications

• Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Be able to effectively communicate complex planning/scheduling and general project controls information to varied audiences including clients, departmental management, engineering, project/construction management, and project teams

Systems

• Be proficient with Scheduling systems spreadsheets, word processing software, databases and report writers

• P6 experience is required, 2 years minimum experience.

Education, Experience and Certifications

• Bachelors Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management, or related technical field

• Transit Planning/Scheduling experience is a plus

• P6 experience is required, 2 years minimum experience

Certifications/Registrations

• Active membership in AACE, PMI, or similar association.

• PSP or PMI-SP certification a plus
