About the role

The purpose of the role is to help ensure availability of the facilities provided by energy balancing and related systems to ensure that ENCC (Electricity National Control Centre) has the IS and business facilities necessary to deliver real time critical operation. To ensure that these core activities are met, taking the lead on allocated keys tasks, undertaking user acceptance testing and developing support arrangements and procedures.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide support and communication to ENCC on the implementation of system functionality
  • Develop database maintenance processes for the energy balancing system
  • Ensure that all procedures and work instructions that relate to the energy balancing system are developed, maintained and reviewed on a regular basis and that they are updated in a timely manner to account for business process/IS system changes.
  • Ensure the ENCC has the most up-to-date information and advice regarding energy balancing system usage.
  • Maintain the data held in the operational systems used by the ENCC to align with the latest information and advice
  • Provide business expertise in the scheduling and optimisation algorithms in the energy balancing system
  • Contribute to project activities by supporting the development of our core market management product, determining the applicability of changes and enhancements for National Grid use.
  • Investigate and resolve queries from internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage system failures, liaising with all interested parties leading to a swift resolution
  • Provide user testing of enhancements and fixes to the energy balancing system system
  • Act as technical secretary for the approval and co-ordination of changes across our networks and systems.
What You'll get

You will receive a competitive salary between £36,000 £59,000, dependant on experience.

About You

The applicant should have the following skillset & industry knowledge:

• Experience of business management / change management / technical administration

processes.

• Good understanding of the electricity industry structure and National Grid ESOs role inoperating the Balancing Mechanism

• Analytical skills, experience working with spreadsheets and business processes.

The applicant should be a confident, outgoing self-starter who possesses the following qualifications & attributes:

• A levels/HNC or equivalent qualification with a STEM bias.

• ITIL Change Management qualification is desirable.

• Desire to perform at the highest level, and be a strong team player.

• Ability to demonstrate excellent communication and IT skills.

Role Requirement
