To meet our growing UK business needs and future development aspirations we are seeking a Project Manager for the Thames Tideway Tunnel project.

  

Tideway's Super Sewer is upgrading London's infrastructure to cope with demands well into the 22nd century and reconnecting the city with the iconic River Thames. The Thames Tideway Tunnel is a 25 kilometre interception, storage and transfer tunnel running up to 65 metres below the river. By intercepting sewage before it enters the river, the Thames Tideway Tunnel will help prevent the River Thames from being polluted with untreated sewage which can stay in the river for up to three months before the ebb and flow of the tide finally takes it out to sea.


  

As an integrated Project Manager, Jacobs work with Tideway to ensure all recruitment is inclusive.

  


 The role will involve management of the Main Works Contractors activities, to ensure they are delivered safely, to the desired quality, on time and to budget. This will demand administration of the contract by the Project Manager in liaison with the rest of the Project Management team.


  

A significant part of the Project Managers role will be to work collaboratively with the Main Works Contractors Project Manager to ensure that the interfaces with all stakeholders are effectively managed coordination with utility companies, local authorities, resident groups, etc


  Key responsibilities and tasks:  
  • Full responsibility and accountability for delivery of assigned worksite. 
  • Ensuring Contractor complies with the Works Information, and ensure contemporaneous records are maintained. 
  • Maintain a strong relationship with the Contractors Project Manager and site team. 
  • Conduct quality, health, safety and environmental inspections and audits to ensure compliance with the Works Information. 
  • Chair regular progress meetings and attend/contribute to wider team meetings. 
  • Chair regular meetings with stakeholders, and develop and manage relationships with critical stakeholders. 
  • Administer the contract by working with other members of the team to write and respond to contractual communications. 
  • Perform schedule reviews to ensure work is delivered on-time. 
  • Assist and work with the Senior Project Manager and Delivery Manager to ensure that Thames Tunnels HSSE/CDM, quality, financial, risk management, business and policy expectations are met throughout construction activities. 
  • Provide motivation and direction to the team and mentor junior staff.
  • To lead cross programme construction themes e.g. transport, tunnelling, consents, etc.
  • Administer the NEC3 contract.
  • Manage the EWN process including the identification and resolution of project issues and risks for the worksite.
  • Support Main Works Contractors planning for upcoming construction activities to ensure operational readiness before works start
     Qualifications
  Essential:  
  • BSc or MSc in Engineering, Construction Management or technical field.
  • Direct responsibility for delivering multi million pound projects (preferably involving Underground Construction in London); or Major civil projects in built up areas.
  • Significant experience of leading multiple design and construction projects with a value in excess of £20m
  • Familiar with the NEC 3 form of contract
        Desirable:  
  • Member of relevant professional organisations.
  • Experience working within a client organisation and regulatory environment.
  • Understanding of industry systems, functions and management tools necessary for complex project management.
