Senior Geophysicist in Doha, Doha, Qatar
This post-holder must work closely with the international exploration and growth
business team; therefore, an in-depth knowledge of Exploration Geophysics discipline
with a proven track record is required.
The candidate should have the following specific
qualifications, competencies and skills to fill the role.
Basic Qualifications:
• M.Sc. preferred with a major in Geoscience subject as a minimum.
• 15+ years' experience in the oil industry, including minimum 6 years in an IOC
practicing hands-on Geoscience work in New Ventures screening and Exploration to
Field Development functions.
• Should have demonstrable experience in oil and natural gas exploration and
development projects in a wide range of sedimentary basins and tectonic settings
globally, pre and post salt basins, basin and play led exploration from inception to
prospect generation and drill-ready well locations
• Must be able to work in a non-operated capacity maintaining demonstrating
communication skills fundamental to preserving credibility and influencing client’s
operating JV partners.
• Should be abreast with most of the technological advancements in the industry.
• Advanced or Expert proficiency in geophysical Computer Applications including
specialized software such as Petrel Geophysics, Landmark DecisionSpace, Hampson
Russel.
Deliverables:
Within the position, the successful candidate will be required to competently perform the
following tasks:
• Responsible for providing support on all geophysical activities and studies in client’s
International non-operated assets or assigned growth opportunities.
• Responsible for interpretation of all geophysical data and integration with geological
data to map and identify prospects and leads in all client International Asset areas or
growth opportunity. Participate in assessment, risking and ranking of all prospects
and leads maintaining an updated prospect portfolio. Recommend areas for potential
incremental reserves addition in existing fields
• Provide geophysical support on all Business Development growth opportunity
screening and make technical recommendations to management on whether to pursue
or reject the opportunity.
• Oversees all geophysical operations planning and execution such as acquisition
modelling, acquisition program, processing and ensures high standard of data quality
and cost effectiveness.
• Work closely with other subsurface team members on multi-disciplinary projects &
critically review work of JV partners and submits his/her own recommendations.
• Assist in reservoir studies including interpretation, evaluation and mapping of seismic
data to provide structural framework models for all reservoirs. Provide reservoir
parameters as derived from seismic data, recommend, and implement any specialized
seismic processing /inversion techniques to provide such reservoir data for QC and
input into reservoir models.
• Work closely with the other technical functions to identify optimum development and
infill well locations, orientation and completion targets for best recovery
• Monitor and supervise when necessary, work programs by geophysical contractors in
support of client’s data acquisition and Asset growth mandates.
