About the role

We are looking for a Manager Controllership Consolidation and Reporting to play an integral role in supporting senior management by providing business timely and accurate financial statements, analysis and reports in accordance with the IFRS and Rio Tinto policies.

This position is an excellent opportunity to join the regional team based in Montreal.  This dynamic team is responsible to deliver optimal controllership support to the Aluminium product group and all his business units.  Working in a collaborative environment, the team is responsible for coordinating and ensuring that a high quality of all accounting, financial reporting, technical support and compliance services are delivered to the Aluminium product group and related business units.

The role is part of an operating model based on collaborative work between the two global Controllership hubs located in Montreal and in Perth, as well as the Head Office in London, and offices located in Singapore and Brisbane.

This role is a great opportunity for a highly motivated individual. Working on 5 days on, 2 days off roster, you will report to the Senior Manager, NH Controllership - Consolidation and Reporting, and you will have the following duties:

  • Lead a team of regional financial accountant experts to create impactful management reports that will drive leadership decision making on critical business matters;
  • Foster the development of the team competencies and skills;
  • Prepare and provide analysis of the monthly, quarterly and annual financial results that will serve for management reporting and external reporting, and engage with Aluminium product group CEO and CFO to review the results;
  • Coordinate and provide analysis of the financial plan, forecast and estimates scenarios;
  • Ensure compliance with adequate internal controls, SOX standard and Rio Tintos accounting policies;
  • Manage ad hoc requests, projects or initiatives to/from various stakeholders;
  • Support the controllership function initiative to standardize and optimized its processes;
  • Partner with various functions team to enhance financial services provided to the BUs;
  • Provide the required information for internal & external audits;
  • Solve complex problems and recommend solutions;
  • Promote and contribute to process improvements.

 

About you 

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance, accounting certification CPA or equivalent ;
  • Minimum of 8 years of accountant experience in management reporting, planning and forecasting;
  • Leadership experience as well as experience in a similar industry would be an asset;
  • Bilingual English/French;
  • Solid interpersonal and communication skills with ability to interface with various stakeholders and across multiple regions and time-zones;
  • Very good business acumen and ability to interact effectively with colleagues;
  • Strong analytical skills and critical thinking;
  • Proactive and ability to work autonomously;
  • Advanced Excel skills;
  • Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) skills would be an asset.
