Chevron Canada has been responsibly developing Canadas abundant energy resources for more than 80 years. Headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, Chevron Canada has interests in oil sands projects and liquids-rich shale gas acreage in Alberta; exploration, development and production projects offshore Newfoundland and Labrador; a proposed liquefied natural gas (LNG) project and shale acreage in British Columbia; and exploration and discovered resource interests in the Beaufort Sea region of the Northwest Territories.  

Chevron Canada Resources is currently seeking a Field Facilities Engineer to join the Canadian Business Unit. This position will be based in Whitecourt, Alberta and will report to the Assurance & Technical Services Lead. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing oversight and support for the efficient execution of small capital projects in the field. Interface with field execution team to ensure project priorities are understood and act as a point of contact for Calgary facilities engineering team.

Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Field Facilities Engineer located in Whitecourt, Alberta   through Sunday, March 31, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Provide oversight and support for the efficient execution of small capital projects in the field. Interface with field execution team to ensure project priorities are understood. Act as a point of contact for Calgary facilities engineering team.
  • Participate in routine work planning/scheduling meetings.
  • Act a focal point for RFIs received from the MOC field execution teams (Phase 4) and operating teams during phase 5 operations. Ensure RFIs are properly categorized (NCR, Tech Support, MOC F&O, ACOT Change) and directed to the appropriate engineering resources for resolution.
  • Coordinate activities associated with infield scope changes as a result of RFIs. Ensure the appropriate actions are taken when changes occur after BOD is locked down.
  • Review redlines coming in from the field for quality/correctness prior to handover back to the MOC Owners for drafting.
  • Daily collaboration with Integrated Operations Center Team/Production Operations on project opportunities and status.
  • Initial scoping MOCs in the during the pre-MOC phase. Collaborate with the field execution and Production Operations Team to ensure early buy-in and provide updates to design templates based on previous field implementation.
  • Provide Commissioning support of MOCs to production operations and assisting with trouble shooting as required.
  • Provide routine technical support to operations.
  • Mentoring Calgary based junior facilities engineers during field execution of small capital projects.
  • Working with Materials Management Specialist to ensure inventory is in place and managed on active projects. Purchasing equipment as required via supply chain management, local distributor on maintenance contractor.
  • Act as a small capital project manager/field engineer as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in an Engineering discipline (Petroleum, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering).
  • Professional Engineer with a strong background in Upstream Oil and Gas wells, well pad surface facilities and pipeline gathering systems.
  • 15+ years of facilities engineering experience in an Upstream Oil and Gas project management and execution, providing technical support to production operations ensuring assets are operated and maintained efficiently without incidents.
  • Fluent with formal management of change process, having a proven track record of managing small capital projects implemented into operating assets. Must be capable of managing projects through all phases.
  • Proven ability to provide mentorship to less experienced facilities engineers and technical support to operation & maintenance on troubleshooting issues in operating assets.
  • Proven ability to lead/coordinate work activities in a cross functional environment and drive accountability to complete project deliverables on time.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders across various workgroups, locations & effectively resolve conflict. Proven aptitude to organize, prioritize, self-direct & deliver enterprise driven processes.
  • Exposed to multiple asset types and production facilities, providing a firm understanding of oil and gas operations. Experience understanding general oil and gas facility risks associated with various equipment/asset type.
  • Must have a methodical and well-organized approach to the work environment and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships within and outside the Facilities Engineering (FE) function.
  • Self-motivated and able to influence and motivate others.
  • Experience working in a team environment, team player.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
