The Natural Gas Marketing division of our Supply, Trading and Optimization team is looking for a Natural Gas Scheduler who takes pride in having a strong sense of ownership in his/her work, enjoys troubleshooting and is naturally inquisitive.   

You will use your expertise to:

  • Ensure reliable scheduling of natural gas receipts and deliveries on pipelines across Canada and within the United States
  • Identify, troubleshoot and correct scheduling issues quickly and effectively
  • Communicate clearly and effectively both within the team and with external contacts to understand issues and solve problems
  • Manage and communicate inventory, supply and demand positions to our traders and marketers
  • Reconcile and balance transactions in our deal-entry system against our scheduling spreadsheets, trade spreadsheets, pipeline systems and mid-office
  • Maintain awareness and expertise on pipeline logistical matters, including outages, operational conditions, available capacity, etc., and take the initiative to keep the team informed
  • Work with technology experts to improve our spreadsheets and tools

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Four years of natural gas scheduling experience, including managing pipeline and storage imbalances and forecasts
  • Experience scheduling downstream U.S. pipes (e.g. Northern Border, Michcon, Gas Transmission Northwest, Alliance, Great Lakes)
  • Experience with NGTL, Union, TransCanada Mainline
  • A Bachelors degree
  • Thorough knowledge of natural gas logistics and pipeline nomination practices and systems, and familiarity with natural gas markets and commercial activities
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including vlookups, pivots, troubleshooting macros
  • A highly detail-oriented approach, with excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting and analytical skills, and the ability to anticipate requirements and take initiative
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish credibility, develop relationships and collaborate effectively
  • Excellent time management skills and can stay calm under pressure, manage priorities, and react promptly to meet deadlines with high-quality work
  • A commitment to learning, use a questioning attitude to surface problems, and seek knowledge to continuously improve yourself and work processes

Where youll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 6th Ave S.W.
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
  • You will be part of an after-hours coverage rotation and will be required to work scheduled evenings, weekends and holidays
  • You will be located in an open office area that may be active and noisy SAP:IND
